Two Pedestrian Bridges Coming Up Soon in Patna

In an indication of changed environment in Bihar under the Nitish government, a private company, Selvel, announced its decision to build two pedestrian bridges in the capital ? one outside Patna Junction near the Mahavir Temple and the other one connecting the Maurya Lok Shopping Complex to the other side towards Chhajjubagh.

The announcement to make the two bridges was made by the Selvel Bihar Branch Manager Himadri Das on Tuesday.

"An agreement with the Patna Regional Development Corporation (PRDA) was reached in January but talks were on with other concerned departments including the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), the Public Works Department (PWD), and the Patna Electricity Supply Undertaking (PESU)," Das said.

The work on the six feet wide bridges would begin in the last week of this month with the help of an engineering firm in Kolkata, he said adding the entire expense for both bridges would be borne by Selvel.

The company has built similar pedestrian bridges in more than two dozen cities in the nation, Das informed.
